If You Can’t Hear God’s Voice…

1) Practice the presence of God.

Cultivate an awareness that the Holy Spirit dwells in you and He longs to fellowship with you daily. Spend time with Him, engage your heart - even as you do “ordinary” things!

2) Learn the fine art of listening.

Listening truly is a skill that you can learn, whether in your natural relationships or your spiritual relationship with God. Create space and time to be quiet before the Lord. Pray to “have an ear” to hear what His Spirit is saying to you.

3) Spend time in the Bible.

This is fundamental. If you want to hear from God more, spend time in His Word. Knowing the Word can also guard us from deception - and from falling into the trap of listening to other voices or vain imaginations.

4) Ultimately, believe God WANTS to speak to you.

He DOES want to speak to you. You CAN hear His voice! Jesus Himself said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27) The Holy Spirit lives inside you and might be speaking to you more than you realize!
